Mission
Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter is the 501( c) (3) nonprofit fundraising partner of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter founded in 2006. Friends was founded to supplement the animal care budget that the Fairfax County Animal Shelter receives from the County of Fairfax. Friends funds medical and dental care, parasite prevention, spay and neuter for community cats, as well as collars, tags and leashes for adopted pets. Friends also funds senior medical wellness exams, hospice care and animal enrichment items for pets that are awaiting their new loving families at either the Shelter or in foster care. Friends joins in the Shelter’s effort to ensure that every pet is offered the best opportunity to leave the shelter healthier and happier.
How Your Donation Helps
With your support, we help shelter pets in Fairfax County
Each year, nearly 5,000 pets, including cats, dogs, small mammals, reptiles and livestock, come to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. The Shelter opens its doors—and its heart—to care for each and every pet.
But the Shelter can’t do it alone. Thankfully, Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter (Friends) is here to help.
