Our mission is to promote educational and employment opportunities for all blind and visually impaired citizens of Alabama, and to promote awareness of the need for access to public accommodations. The council strives to improve the well being of all blind and visually impaired people by serving as a representative state organization cooperating with public and private institutions. We encourage and assist blind people to develop their abilities because we believe that visually impaired persons can contribute to society and lead productive independent lives with dignity.

The Alabama Council of the Blind has partnered with The Vehicle Donation Processing Center in the operation of our vehicle donation program. The Vehicle Donation Processing Center allows The Alabama Council of the Blindto be able to benefit from vehicular donations, and offers this service to you.

When a donation is pledged, the Vehicle Donation Processing Center, takes the donor information over the telephone, handles all the documents, vehicle pick up, sale at auction and distribution of proceeds to The Alabama Council of the Blind. The Vehicle Donation Processing Center guarantees payment of all expenses in administering the program for Alabama Council of the Blind. Every month, net proceeds are split evenly between the Vehicle Donation Processing Center and Alabama Council of the Blind.
