Pennsylvania Council of the Blind

Thank you for your interest in donating a vehicle to Pennsylvania Council of the Blind. Here is some information on vehicle donation. If you have any other questions please refer to vdpchelp.com, the donor service website for the Vehicle Donation Processing Center, or call 800-822-3490.

How Do I Donate?

  1. Check our guidelines on what to donate.
  2. Fill out a donation application or call our toll free number at 800-822-3490. Generally, you will be able to speak to a live donor representative, seven days a week (Pacific Time: Monday through Friday, 5am to 9pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 8:30am to 4:30pm). Do call anytime, and we will call you right back.
  3. We will send you a couple of forms for your signature. Those forms and your signed title are the authorization we need to transfer ownership of your vehicle.
  4. A qualified transportation company makes arrangements directly with you to pick-up the vehicle.
  5. You will receive a receipt stating you have donated a vehicle or vessel. Your tax professional is your best source of information regarding charitable tax deductions.

What Happens to My Donation

Most vehicles and vessels are sold through well established auctions to the highest bidder. In that way delay is minimized and the chance of fraud is eliminated. It is sometimes more effective to use the services of a broker where no auction is available for the sale of a particular vehicle. In all cases we try to receive the highest sale price to pass on the greatest benefit to Pennsylvania Council of the Blind.

It's as simple as that!
