GLARP, otherwise known as the Gay & Lesbian Association of Retiring Persons, Inc. is a non-profit organization that was established in 1996 by Veronica St. Claire and Mary Thorndal, aiming to call attention to retirement and aging issues in the LGBT community. They mainly provide senior housing opportunities for the LGBT community in the California region, specifically in Palm Springs. The organization aims to establish a senior residential housing for adults that aged 62 and above, along with a skilled nursing centre and assisted living centre where retiring members of the LGBT community can live and age in peace and in a community of acceptance. Their project aims to build an environment that is attractive to the aging LGBT community. If you have a heart for members of the LGBT community and would like to help care for their aging and retiring members, you can make a car donation in their name.
This LGBT organization is one of a kind. Not only do they provide senior housing, they also offer different educational services including seminars, workshops, and conference for people who are approaching retirement, as well as for those who are already retired. These seminars teach the elderly how to manage their retirement funds or income, how to deal with their emotions and their transition to retirement, as well as educate them about federal, local, and state programs that are available for them. The organization is continuously seeking support for their numerous programs, including their residential and housing projects, which are constantly expanding. Their unceasing dedication is all for the welfare of the members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual community that are approaching their retirement age. If you want to be part of their cause, do your share by making a car donation to GLARP.
